There are hundreds of thousands of couples right now across the world who have had to make the decision to cancel or postpone their wedding day due to the Covid-19 outbreak. If you are one of those couples, I am so so sorry you are having to go through this. Some people may say 'it's for the best', 'you will still get to have your special day' or 'at least you are happy and healthy'... and yes whilst all of these things are true, it's still really crappy and stressful for any couple dealing with the prospect of changing anything about their day. So feel all of the feelings, cry and stomp your feet if you have too, heck go ahead and eat your wedding favours if it makes you feel better.

Seriously though I am sending you all of the love and hugs right now. As both a vendor and a 2020 (maybe?) bride I hear your pain and sadness. Right now the idea of 'celebrating' your original wedding date may seem completely ridiculous or just too heartbreaking... but hear me out.

This is the day you have been planning for years, and I can promise you it won't be a date you will forget any time soon, so why not make the most of it! As one of my amazing brides beautifully put it... turn your into a 'should-have-been' into your 'wedding day - part 1'. And if you are a little stuck on how you can make it a day to remember take a look through my top 9 Covid-Wedding ideas below, and add your own ideas to the comments for other couples to see.

1. Throw a zoom wedding party

Get your close family and wedding party onto a video sharing app and feel like they are with you. Book out a morning champagne breakfast, afternoon tea, or party the night away with drinking games, fancy dress and parody speeches.

2. Have your first dance

More time to practice your killer dance moves or sophisticated twirling can never be a bad thing. Heck do your first dance on the hour every hour (maybe a bit much?).

3. Read your vows to each other

Or write some parody Covid ones if you don't want to ruin the surprise. If it feels like the right thing to do then exchange rings too!

4. Cut the cake

If you can you should definitely contact your cake maker to see if they offer smaller samples or cupcakes which you can stuff your faces with. Or bake a replica wedding cake yourselves, throw some flour around and pretend your Mary Berry!

5. Have a part 1 photo shoot

See if your photographer is offering doorstep or socially distanced shoots. If they aren't or it's too far, then get in touch with a local photographer. I have had great fun over the past few weeks photographing couples who both are and aren't my wedding clients, accidentally spraying champagne across their neighbours gardens and decorating the front of their homes with balloons.

6. Get dressed up

Pop on your finest outfits, heck go full Monica and even put on your wedding dress/suit and throw confetti at each other. Or don your most comfy favourite pyjamas all day. This one has so many options!

Why not try and cook your wedding breakfast yourselves, find a recipe online and have a good laugh trying not to burn anything. Or treat yourselves to your favourite luxury takeaway choice.

8. Extra treats

It may be that with your date postponed you have a little more time to save. Think about the one thing you each really wanted at the wedding that you may not have been able to do before... a videographer, a double decker bus, a cartoonist, a bouncy castle (god I want a bouncy castle wedding) whatever it is, do some research, could it be possible now?

It is going to be day full of emotions for you both and every couples is going to feel differently depending on their circumstances. Just make sure that no matter what you make it a day to remember, fill it with kisses, laughter and all of the things you love the most. Nothing is 'wrong' or 'right' about how you spend your time. If you want to say in bed all day eating Domino's and watching Harry Potter then make sure that's exactly what you do! If you want to dress up, exchange rings and make sure you speak to everyone who would have been part of your big day... then that's exactly what you need to do!

If you have any amazing ideas or try any of these then pop a note in the comments. Sending much love to you all.
